Sinem Metin Kacar, co-founder

I started my career as an urban designer in the US after completing my Master’s degree. After several years in practice, I transitioned into academia and education. Teaching at the university while completing my PhD and collaborating on research and implementation projects allowed me a different perspective.

Becoming a mother inspired me to explore architectural activities with my son from an early age. The idea for ‘Urban Fun’ with Irem was born during one of these playful sessions. We soon began exploring the concept in various schools, turning it into a meaningful and impactful project.

Irem Ayranci Onay, co-founder

I commenced my career during my PhD in Istanbul, where I lectured on urban design and planning at the Faculty of Architecture at ITU. I collaborated on numerous large-scale projects with international partners, including UN-Habitat, UNESCO, and ICOMOS.

I continued my academic pursuits in London by researching, presenting at conferences, and publishing.

My greatest passion—architecture and planning—took on a new direction after the birth of my daughter. It evolved into children's architecture and planning education, and that was when Sinem and I founded Urban Fun.
